Boondoc Technologies Inc. (“QID”) is committed to protecting the privacy of our users. This Privacy Policy is incorporated into, and is part of, our Terms of Use, which governs your access to and your use of services.  This Privacy Policy does not cover information we receive from third parties.

IMPORTANT: We do not collect personal health information (PHI) as defined by provincial health information acts. We strongly advise against sharing patient data or confidential medical records on the platform. Any case discussions should use de-identified information in accordance with applicable provincial college guidelines.

However, we never disclose aggregate usage or de-identified information to a third party (or allow a third party to collect such information) in a manner that would identify you as an individual person.

5. DATA SECURITY & RETENTION

Security Measures

  • Encryption & Secure Storage: 256-bit or better encryption for data transmission and storage
  • Access Controls: Role-based authorization.
  • Breach Notification: Prompt notification (within 72 hours where feasible) of data breaches

Data Retention

Personal data is retained for the duration of your account plus 7 years after account closure to comply with professional regulatory requirements and applicable laws.


6. COOKIES & TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES

Like most websites, our website may use “cookies.”  Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your computer’s hard drive through your web browser to help us identify you when you come to our website. 

Our website collects cookies and may use cookies for reasons including, but not limited to:

QID is intended only for licensed medical professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under 18. If a minor’s data is discovered, it will be promptly deleted.


9. SALE OF ASSETS, MERGER, ACQUISITION, BANKRUPTCY

If QID undergoes a business transfer, including merger or acquisition, personal information may be transferred to the successor entity. The new entity must provide a level of privacy protection consistent with this Privacy Policy or an equivalent data protection framework.


10. FORUMS & USER-GENERATED CONTENT

Community

User-generated content on QID forums is visible to other registered users. QID reserves the right to moderate content and enforce community standards.

Your Communication with Other Users

When you communicate with other users, you may provide content and information. Keep in mind that users with whom you communicate may, in some cases, be able to save that content or copy it outside of our services, so do not share content with other users that you would not want another user to save or share.  We are not responsible for other users’ use of any content or information that you share with such users, or for such users’ actions.

Educational Content and Sponsorship

  • Educational content may be developed with sponsor involvement
  • Sponsorship relationships will be clearly disclosed to users
  • QID maintains editorial oversight of all sponsored content
  • Users should critically evaluate content and consider disclosed sponsorships

Medical Discussion Guidelines

  • Patient case discussions must be fully de-identified
  • No unique identifiers that could identify a patient should be included
  • Users are responsible for compliance with their own regulatory requirements
  • QID is not intended to replace proper medical consultation

11. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY & EXTERNAL LINKS

QID is not responsible for:

  • Third-party sites linked from QID
  • User misuse of personal data shared within forums or discussions, or directly with such users

Our services may contain hyperlinks to websites operated by third parties, which may include social media features, such as social media buttons or links.  We provide such hyperlinks for your reference and convenience only.  We do not control such websites and are not responsible for their content, or the privacy, or other practices of such websites.  It is up to you to read and fully understand their privacy policies.  Our inclusion of hyperlinks to such websites does not imply any endorsement of the material on such websites or any association with their operators.  If you are submitting information to any such third-party through our services, you should review and understand that party’s applicable policies, including their privacy policies, before providing your information to the third-party.

While our services are designed primarily for Canadian pharmacists, we recognize that our users may be located in different provinces/territories or internationally. Users are responsible for:

  • Complying with their local legal and regulatory requirements and determining whether your use of our services comply with such legal and regulatory requirements
  • Understanding that data protection standards vary by jurisdiction
  • Acknowledging that cross-border data transfers may be subject to different legal requirements

14. CHANGES TO THE PRIVACY POLICY

This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically. Users will be notified via email or a website notice of significant changes where required by applicable law. Continued use of the services after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
